Brief History of Our School

St. James’ School was created due to the need of expansion of St. George’s School which has existed since 1960, in Cascais, and it will follow the same guidelines, policies and ethos as St. George’s School.

St. James’ is a school where children from ages 6 to 12 leave prepared to continue their learning path in both the Portuguese and the English/International learning systems.

A good standard of discipline will be maintained and this is supported by a system which promotes competition, keenness and ‘esprit-de-corps’.

Small classes will ensure individual attention. Pupils will be taught both in English and Portuguese by qualified staff, their time being divided equally between the two languages and curricula.

St. James’ School was officially inaugurated by the deputy Mayor of Cascais, the honourable Mr. Carlos Carreiras and the director of the British Council, Lisbon Mr. Jonathan Gaytner on the 4th December, 2007.
