• Wednesday, 7^th December between 2:30p.m. and 5:30p.m. there will be an Usborne Book Fair at school. Average prices vary between 10€ and 12€.  On that day pupils may bring money to school to buy the books.
• Wednesday, 7^th December, in Years 2,3,4,and 6 ICT class, students will take part in ‘Movimento Código Portugal’ www.codemove.pt . ‘Movimento Código Portugal is a campaign to sensitize people to the importance of Computer digital literacy. This movement aims at stimulating developing the skills associated with computer language, which has become a new model of Literacy for the XXI Century. The closing ceremony will take place at the ‘Pavilhão do Conhecimento – Centro Ciência Viva’, on the 11^th between 11a.m. and 7p.m.  Entrance is free.
• Friday, 9^th December the school is closed.
• Before the 14^th of December pupils must bring a gift to school for Father Christmas (boy for boy, girl for girl) at the cost of 7€,and already wrapped.

CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES

We are not having our traditional Christmas Show.

Over the years we have taken in to account that two shows per year, with the great effort it demanded from the pupils, was too much.  Pupils felt tremendous pressure rehearsing as they had neither the time nor the space required for creativity. On the other hand, we were unable to include either Gymnastics or a Judo Demonstration in any of our shows.

Therefore, this school year we have decided to have an only Show, at a time that will not interfere classes, where we can include those and other  school demonstrations on the same day.  We have chosen a Saturday afternoon towards the end of April in a large auditorium.

This Christmas, on the 16th December, we shall celebrate at School, for the pupils, with the following programme:

Pupils may arrive until 9 a.m..

9.30 a.m – Father Christmas – Exchange of gifts.

11.15 a.m. – Handball Match between Year 4 classes.

11. 45 a.m. – Basketball Match between Year 5 Classes.

2.30 pm – Dance Club I

2.45 pm – Dance Club II

3.00 p.m. – Dance Club III

TEA PARTY – We kindly ask parents to contribute to their afternoon tea by sending cakes, snacks and drinks. We would like to thank you in advance.

4.00 p.m.  – Drama Clubs I, II, III

4.15 p.m. – Choir Club I, II (Christmas Carols)

4.30 p.m. –Judo Demonstration

The School gates will only open at 5 p.m.

MEETINGS

First Term Report Card Meetings – Parents are asked to book via email or telephone to the office and reserve a time that is convenient for them.

Tuesday, 20th December – Year 2, Year 4 Blue, Year 5 Blue, Year 6

Wednesday, 21st December – Year 3, Year4 Red, Year 5 Red, Year 7

School photographs will be available at the meeting, at the price of 17€.

CHRITSMAS HOLIDAYS

St. James’ School will be open from the 19th to the 23rd December for those who require it. Please inform the office until the 14th December if your child/children will be attending.

We shall be closed from the 26th December until the 2^nd January, 2017.  We re-open on the 3rd of January, 2017.
